A wife steps into her husband's private investigation practice and ventures into a case of domestic violence.
After her husband is drafted into WWII, Evelyn Gardner steps into his shoes, taking over his private investigation practice. She ventures into a case of domestic violence, but the victim, Eileen Novak, remains uncooperative. Evelyn's search leads her to discover the tryst between Eileen and her abuser, Det. Roger Newmann. As she stumbles over her new profession's complexities, Evelyn confronts the underbelly of America's homefront.
